As part of overhauling the Lenkie dashboard, I was tasked with improving the existing dashboard. The dashboard at the time posed issues for users as they often struggled to find information they they wanted related to specific repayments. We also aimed to enable export of repayment history and to provide improved architecture around the use of this page.

Our research was laser-focused on understanding our existing customers' needs and pain points, aiming to pinpoint how our product could effectively address their challenges and elevate their business operations. Through interviews and feedback sessions, we found invaluable insights that informed our product development approach. Here are the key findings:

  1. Different approach to data representation:

    • The current dashboard told the repayment story around the state of the repayments (pending, completed and failed) and that wasn't as useful to the users as we initially thought.

    • Users expressed frustration not knowing what they had repaid and what they had to repay, or how exactly how the numbers came about.

  2. The need to be as detailed as possible:

    • Repayments on Lenkie are collected in batches so that created extra complexity for the users (Payments in the same week made are usually batched under a date in that same week for repayments). There was a need to be more explanatory with the repayments that make up one batch payment.

  3. Need for export:

    • Customers expressed a need for a way to export or generate receipts for repayments made on the dashboard for accounting purposes.

Based on the insights from our feedback sessions with customers, I came up with the changes to be made on this new repayment page.

For the Repayment history history section, users could generate PDF receipts for a repayment batch, and download invoices for specific payments like in the upcoming repayment section. They could also export the repayments table combined as a CSV document.
